- Synopsis
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION Santiago Roncagliolo takes the life of Uruguayan author Enrique Amorim particularly his relationship with Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca to reconstruct the most interesting aspects of the artistic scene in the decades between the 1920 s and 1960 s. Truths are confirmed: Neruda was a man of profound friendships and enmities; Aragon dominated French cultural life; Quiroga lived in constant selftorment. Suspicions are cleared: Picasso was belittled by the Communist Party; Chaplin was preposterously hounded; Borges knew nothing of soccer. And new questions Roncagliolo strives to respond arise: Did Amorim seize Garcia Lorca s remains? Are they buried in a monument in Salto, Uruguay?
