- Synopsis
- Lomborg (statistics, U. of Aarhus) explores ten of the most serious challenges facing the world today: climate change, communicable diseases, conflicts and arms proliferation, access to education, financial instability, governance and corruption, malnutrition and hunger, migration, sanitation and access to clean water, and subsidies and trade barriers. He provides arguments and data for this set of problems and hopes to help in prioritizing responses. Each issue is introduced by an expert who defines the scale of the problem and describes the cost and benefits of a range of policy options. Two sets of alternative perspectives are included with the proposals, and eight economists rank the options and evaluate the the policy proposals.
