- Synopsis
- Love-battered Budge Moss, the once-prominent author now largely forgotten by the reading public, emerges from his crisis of separation and pending divorce under the protective wing of Matty Klein, an elderly widow in whose home--and heart--he now resides. Budge knows he has it good: a roof over his head, a room of his own and the solitude in which to pursue his literary craft, not to mention Matty's steadfast devotion and culinary generosity. But is he satisfied? No, he isn't. One thing after another gets under his skin. He dislikes the upscale subdivision where he now lives. He questions Matty's chronological age in relation to his own. He resents having such a difficult time getting published. And then he hears from his soon-to-be ex-wife, which sets in motion a chain of events that becomes a tale of comic horror, a cross-country rapprochement that should never have gotten past the theoretical, or pipe-dream stage. "Wrongful Reconciliation, Peter Svenson's second novel, is a sequel to his earlier "Washed Up With A Broken Heart in Rock Hall, which chronicled the hapless Budge Moss's initial forays into single-hood.
