- Synopsis
- Innovation tournaments are competitions set up to weed through opportunities to find the most exceptional and value-creating opportunities. In order to conduct an effective tournament, you need to create a stream of raw opportunities, made up of marginal as well as exceptional ideas. In other words, the more opportunities you produce, the more likely it is that an exceptional opportunity will surface. This chapter focuses on generating more and better raw opportunities through the efforts of your people. The techniques presented here will get you started and prevent you from getting stuck. This chapter was originally published as chapter 2 of "Innovation Tournaments: Creating and Selecting Exceptional Opportunities."
