Synopsis: This collection is an inside look at European Commission policy-making in education and the privatization of policy-making in the European Union. Along with contributions from leading academics in the field of European educational policy and policy-sociology, this book also introduces the 'absent voices' in the policy privatization debate: policy consultants and policy-makers. Contributors combine theoretical concepts with empirical research to consider the differences between the EuropeanCommission policy privatization process and similar processes in countries around the world. Evaluating European Education Policy-Making provides the first empirical contribution to the study of the private/public policy networks that the Commission uses for the co-production of its 'statework' in the area of education, and ultimately addresses fundamental questions of democracy and accountability.
