- Synopsis
- As a confidante and companion of Baba Amte, she lived like his shadow for over six decades. A social activist in her own right, she stood out as a role model with her compassion for the poor, dispossessed and the ailing. Immediately after marriage Baba decided to give up legal practice and stay in the Dalit colony of outcasts in Warora, where there was a common kitchen. Born on May 5, 1926, in an orthodox Brahmin family of Guleshastri of Mahal. While much has been written about Baba, Sadhanatai was inseparable and faced all the struggles of his life. Through all these trying times, she never lost her smile and charm as the giver and caring person. Though frail and unassuming, her indomitable courage, as she lived with a non-conformist Baba Amte in difficult conditions; helped her serve and rehabilitate leprosy patients.
