This book is the first in a series featuring fast-paced fiction with the action shifting from a Navy aircraft carrier, to a prisoner of war camp in North Korea, to the presidential situation room in Washington. An American ship has been attacked and boarded by the North Korean army while in neutral waters. The ship's crew is captured, along with their ship, and taken to North Korea. The author deftly shifts perspectives, showing the motives, concerns, and feelings of people as they work to contain escalation in North Korea while working to rescue the crew. There are plenty of dogfights between Tomcats and MIGs, a struggle for survival when a pilot has to eject from his plane, and a daring covert rescue mission involving the Navy SEALs. The author writes with an intimate knowledge of the Navy, Tomcat aircraft, and life aboard an aircraft carrier. This book does contain violence and some strong language, so it may not be suitable for younger children. This is a very nice scan, so you can focus on the action.
