Share this book with a mother, a daughter, a sister, a grandma, or with your best friend! “Mom” consists of a series of interviews done with mothers from every walk of life, representing a cross-section of American families. The stories are beautiful and poignant, covering a variety of different life experiences. Here individuals tell their own personal stories, describing births, deaths, moves, marriages, childhoods, challenges, accomplishments, new jobs, new friends, new relationships, and more. These interviews are unique because they take place between two people who know one another well, not before an unknown interviewer. This intimacy between the participants brings out deeply personal stories and genuine emotions that make the book a moving read. If you’re like me, these stories will stir your own memories, and lead you to think about your family members in new ways. This book definitely inspired me to talk more with the women in my family, so I can share their stories with others one day. While I’d never heard of StoryCorps before reading “Mom,” I’m truly impressed by the project, and am so glad that this book taught me about it.
