- Synopsis
- Two men witness a hit-and-run. Ansell despite bribes, threats and attacks upon himself and his wife, bravely does the right thing by assisting investigators. Mistakenly he believes the police will keep him safe. Poulton is unwilling to help the police but is also pressured not to cooperate. Who is willing to torture and murder to halt the investigation? How can Brice, the primary detective, keep the case open and protect the innocent and see justice done within a system which is biased toward the rights of criminals and opts to disregard difficult cases? Ansell must find the courage to uphold his principles and Brice risks his career by slashing red tape to solve the case. The author clearly illustrates that regulations hinder investigations and requires so much evidence to make an arrest that known criminals often evade the law.
