Son muchas las obras inspiradas en Lazarillo de Tormes, de forma anónima, aparecen en Amberes dos ediciones de una Segunda parte de la vida de Lazarillo de Tormes (1555), que dice imitar la primera. Su primer capítulo se incluyó en posteriores ediciones del Lazarillo.
Lázaro, convertido en atún, participaba en conspiraciones submarinas. Capturado, recupera su forma humana ante un cadalso, en Sevilla. Excarcelado por
Rodrigo de Yepes, Arcipreste de San Salvador, vence al rector de Salamanca en una disputa jocosa.
Otra Segunda parte... de Juan de Luna, aragonés del que poco sabemos, apareció en París, 1620: embarcado para luchar en Argel, Lázaro naufraga. Sus salvadores
lo exhiben como hombre pez. En Toledo lo rescatan el arcipreste de San Salvador y su mujer, contra quienes pleitea. En Madrid se emplea con una alcahueta
y sirve en Valladolid a siete mujeres. La fortuna que hereda de un ermitaño se la roban sus cuatro mujeres.
Menos éxito logró Lazarillo de Manzanares (1620) publicada con cinco novelas más por el madrileño Juan Cortés de Tolosa. El expósito Lázaro sirve en
Alcalá a un pastelero, en Guadalajara a un sacristán y cerca de Madrid, a un santero. Educa a los sobrinos de un canónigo y pone escuela. Evita que lo
casen y marcha a Indias.
Con La vida de Lazarillo de Tormes se inicia lo que llamamos, a la ligera,
novela picaresca.
