- Synopsis
- [If I Could Make One Wish... I know where my wish would take me. I would be standing at the very top of the “88s,” just before dark. Sam would be running circles around me, barking, wanting to get on home. But I’d tell him to be still. “I’m waiting for someone,” I’d say, and I’d pull Sam close to me. Then I’d hear a voice call in the distance. “Hey, Amy, you going to sit there all night?” And there he’d be, standing at the bottom of the “88s” same as always. His hair would be bleached from the sun and his face would be tanned. “Hey, Amy,” he’d say, “race you up.” And before I could answer, he’d be flying up, Sam in his arms, me trailing behind him. And when we got to the very top, I’d put my arms around his neck and never let him go. Never. Ever. If I could make one wish..." Ages 8-12, RL 4.4b
