- Synopsis
- From the introduction: "N. Scott Momaday is an American Indian of Kiowa origin. He grew up among the Navajo and Jemez peoples of Arizona and New Mexico. Literary critics have directed their attention largely to his American Indian background and the ethnic elements in his work. This narrow critical perspective has failed to reveal the more complex literary and cultural influences which have shaped his writing.
