- Synopsis
- Growing up in a close-knit Amish family, Reuben struggles with peer pressure and his desire to own a horse. The grandson of Daniel (Ellie's People, book 4), Reuben loves the Amish way of life, especially the horses. He feels secure in his close-knit family and community. As Reuben grows up, he is caught between the expectations of his parents and his desire to prove himself to his friends. Reuben takes great satisfaction in his first horse, Princess. Every Saturday he polishes his buggy until the black paint shines. He keeps the harness in mint condition. With Princess hitched to the buggy, he feels on top of his world. Then on a dare Reuben tries to show how fast Princess can run, and trouble erupts.... In the aftermath, Reuben searches for inner peace. All of the Ellie's People books are in the Bookshare library.
