- Synopsis
- The male hip-pocket frog is tiny--no bigger than a human thumbnail. This little papa is entrusted with a big responsibility: to nurture and care for his children as they grow from tadpoles to young froglets inside the pouches on his legs. It's a dangerous job. Drought threatens the hip-pocket frog's habitat, and predators--from hungry centipedes to snakes and spiders--are always looking for another meal. With patience, persistence, and a little luck, this hip-pocket papa will see his froglets safely off into the world. Sandra Markle and Alan Marks, creators of the Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor Award-winning A Mother's Journey, offer an up-close look at the miniature world of the hip-pocket frog.
