Synopsis

Valentine Loring was, as her name implied, a most romantic person. Even the casual observer could see she was neatly built for it. Miss Loring was also--upon the testimony of her distracted parents and Bill Rogers, her long-suffering suitor--completely unpredictable. All things considered, the owner of "Ted Morrison's Bookshop... Old and Rare Books" should have bolted his door and retired to the cellar on that snowy fourteenth day of February when Miss Loring stepped into his shop in New York's East Fifties.
