Synopsis: Here is a book for every boy who has owned a dog or who hopes some day to own one. Derry was a finely bred airedale belonging to Ed Sibley of Twin Forks in the wild open country of the Northwest. As a young dog he was rather inclined to disobedience and wildness, qualities that disappointed his master, who had hoped to make a companion of him in that rough and often lonely country. Later, however, Derry proved that there was real stuff in him, as he accompanied his master on hunting and trapping parties and, in several instances, played the leading role in a rather tight situation. Fights with bears, wolves, wild cats, and other animals of the forest lend excitement to the story. And there is much more than merely a good story in this book. For in its pages you will find a great deal of information about how to manage a dog, how to correct his faults, and how to train him in good manners and usefulness.
