- Synopsis
- It's the end of December, and it's that time of year! Light the candles on the kinara! Fly the bendera, and listen to stories from Africa. Bake some tasty benne cakes and make a colorful cow tail switch! It's time for the festival of Kwanzaa. In 1966 Dr. Maulana Karenga created the festival of Kwanzaa to celebrate the history and customs of African Americans. The festival is based upon seven principles, called the Nguzo Saba, that remind African Americans of the struggle of the past and also focus on achievements and goals for the future.
