- The material in this Student Guide is for the third year of a program designed to help live a happy, healthy and productive life. We live in a complex and challenging world. To succeed in this world and effectively deal with the many problems facing us requires a specific set of skills. The program was developed by Dr. Gilbert J. Botvin, a psychologist at Cornell University, to provide an organized way for all middle and junior high school students to learn these important skills.
