Synopsis: Till recently, banking business was carried on by an exclusive few for an exclusive few. With the onset of reforms and advancements in banking technology, banking is now accessible to one and all. Banking is no more the exclusive domain of few. Today, banking touches, whether we like or not, each one of us if in our daily life. ATMS, Credit Cards, remittances, savings, deposits, home loans, vehicle loans, payment of bills: there are numerous bank products that every one of us use. Some of us are also able to transact in our account sitting at home and more often trade in the stock market too! Yet all of us may not have a clear understanding of all terms that are used by banks. We might be presuming certain things and may not be taking informed financial decisions. If this situation has to be overcome it is essential to make banking known to one and all and de-jargonize the banking world. The objective of education is to spread knowledge. Knowledge is most effective if it is disseminated in a simple and understandable way. That is what this book 'Banking Horizon' is about.
