- Synopsis
- Though the Mallory women are twins, nobody has ever had trouble telling them apart. Harper is a famous and wild painter who lives in the wealthy enclave of Stone Point, New York, while Liz lives a vastly different existence as a librarian in their upstate hometown of Longwood Falls. Over time the sisters have drifted apart, settling into their separate lives, for better or worse. But a family tragedy-the accidental death of Harper's young daughter-forces them to confront each other for the first time in years. Liz's decision to reach out to her sister eventually finds her taking care of Harper's troubled son, Nick-the nephew Liz has never met-and leaving her own life behind in order to move into the estate in Stone Point. What appears to be a simple, temporary task turns into something much more complicated and confusing when Liz finds herself falling in love with David Fields, a handsome amateur astronomer with a difficult secret in his past. In the romantic tradition of The Bridges of Madison County and The Notebook, Emily Grayson's beautifully written novel is a memorable story of two people searching for love-a goal that can seem as unreachable as the stars, yet close enough to touch.
