- Synopsis
- This is an autobiographical account of the experiences of the author, as an eighteen-year-old idealistic young woman recently employed as a teacher in the Alaska bush. Hobbs attempts to superimpose her own preconceptions on the residents of the town in which she teaches with sometimes commic, sometimes disasterous results. The book has good character development, and the less-than-picturesque discriptions of bush life are memorable.
