- Synopsis
- The main story, “The Forgotten Friend” is about the protagonist’s quest for meaning. Specifically, Gordon Pierce has a promising new career in the city, a respectable salary, and a generous heart. What he doesn't yet have is the hand of the lady he loves. Will Christmas bring the promise of the love for which he longs? And how will he ever win the approval and respect of the fair lady's father? Then, one bleak night, a sudden hailstorm drives Gordon into the shelter of a small church--and he is reminded of someone for whom he forgot to shop... someone he had not remembered at all! Humbled and ashamed, Gordon vows to remedy the situation before the season is over, never dreaming that he will be exchanging his extravagant Christmas gifts for a treasure beyond worth. Like “The Forgotten Friend,” the other stories in this volume exemplify Christian themes. There are over 80 of Grace Livingston Hill's books in Bookshare's library with more on the way.
