- Synopsis
- This book is a comprehensive look at initiation practices in high school and in teenage gangs. It also examines fraternal hazings and pledging activities in college, which have been the cause of at least one fatality a year since 1970 and threaten to trickle down to high school. The book's eight chapters cover the history and definition of hazing, a survey of various hazing incidents across the country, psychological explanations for "groupthink", hazing in high school athletic teams, the deadly combination of hazing and alcohol, gang initiations, hazing and the law, and techniques for attacking and eradicating hazing. Also included in "For Further Information" is a listing of anti-hazing organizations with contact information.
