The great travelers of the 17th century used the word &“curiosity&” in reference to many different things. The label was equally applied to people, plants, legends, historical facts and geological certainties. In Argyll Curiosities, Scottish author Marian Pallister follows their example in a 21st century journey around Argyll and its islands. It is difficult to find an area of Argyll which is not curious in some way: archaeology, geography, geology and genealogy have all revealed the uniqueness of this western fringe of Scotland.
