Referring back to the early 2000s, this book traces the development of podcasting from a “do-it-yourself” medium by amateurs into its current environment, where a wide variety of individuals, organizations, and platforms operate in an increasingly crowded and competitive market.Through original case studies of shows and platforms including "The Daily" and Spotify, the authors explore the processes and effects of commercialization, platformization, and datafication in the industry.
