- Synopsis
- The book provides fire and emergency services personnel and civilian inspectors with the information they need to meet the job performance requirements (JPRs) of Chapter 7 of NFPA 1030, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Prevention Program Positions, 2024 Edition. This manual covers fire dynamics, building components and services, site access, fire hazard recognition, water-based fire suppression systems, plan review, and inspection procedures. This new edition updates and expands content from the previous edition throughout the manual. Content from Levels I and II of the previous edition is integrated and updated per JPR requirements of NFPA 1030 on equipment, processes, and operations involving hazardous conditions. The sections on engineered wood products, concrete, and structural systems have been expanded. Also included is a comprehensive comparison/contrast model code classifications and updates on mixed- and multiple-use occupancies. This edition references information from the 2024 editions of the International Fire Code and the International Building Code, while also explaining the role of the International Code Council, the NFPA, and the National Building Code of Canada in determining occupancy classifications.
