This very short book is one of those ones that a lot of Gen-Y kids feel the need to write when they hit their late 20's and early 30's. Paul, the author and narrator, takes us on a tour of his disaffected, druggy adolescence. He has strange, disconnected relationships with so-called friends, lusts after certain girls but doesn't know why, takes a lot of recreational drugs, and generally mopes around his dumpy South FLorida hometown in a disaffected, semi-gloomy haze. It's all just so VERY '90's. We never get any reason WHY he does these things, or feels the way he does. Lots of people like to blame their parents, but Paul's barely figure into the equation--we hardly see them. The writing is vivid and evocative, but I just don't see the point of this book (and I'm about the same age as he is, and stil don't quite get it). Maybe the pictures add something. Right now, I just feel like I wasted an hour reading this.
