- Synopsis
- Dennis McKiernan has written mostly fantasies that take place on the world of Mithgar. Here he writes a pure fairy tale and does so very well. Camille, the youngest of five daughters of a poor crofter, is contracted to marry Alain, Prince of the Summer Wood, in Faerie. She is borne off to her new lord on the back of a huge bear and finds her love to be a truly princely person who must constantly wear a mask. She peeks at his face one night and dire consequences ensue. Very well written.
