by Narayan Dharap“खिडकीच्या काचेबाहेरून दोन मोठे, काळेभोर डोळे तिच्याकडे रोखून पाहत होते. त्या एकाग्र नजरेत अशी काही शक्ती होती की, लताला आपली नजर त्यांच्यावरून काढताच येत नव्हती. ती नजर एखाद्या गिरमिटासारखी तिच्या मेंदूचा, तिच्या मनाचा छेद घेत घेत पार तिच्या आत्म्यापर्यंत पोहोचत होती आणि लताला दिसत होतं की, बाहेर होतं ते काही कोणी माणूस नव्हतं, एवढंच नाही, ते जिवंतही नव्हतं. भयाच्या कडेवर मेंदू लटपटत असतानाही ते काय आहे हे तिला समजत होतं.- ती एक बाहुली होती. गारगोट्यांसारख्या मोठ्या मोठ्या डोळ्यांची, लाललाल ओठांची, गोबऱ्या गालाची ती बाहुली होती. पण आता चेहऱ्याचा डावीकडचा भाग जळून, होरपळून, वितळून विकृत झाला होता. एक गालही आत बसला होता. पण ते डोळे! ते जिवंत होते! ते तीव्र भावनांनी लवलवत होते! ती नजर तिचा मेंदू जाळत खोलवर पोहोचत होती. पुन्हा एकदा ती कुजबुज आली. भुश्यात पाणी जिरावं तशी ती कुजबुज तिच्या सर्व शरीरात भिनली. पण ते काही शब्द असले तर तिला ते नीट उमगले नाहीत, त्यांचा अर्थही ध्यानात आला नाही.''
Palati Zade: पळती झाडे

"श्रीरंग नावाचा कथा नायकाची सोलापूरला बदली होते व तो आपल्या मामा-मामी कडे राहायला जातो तेथे त्याला चंदी भेटती व एक दिवस ती अचानक गायब होते.” ही कथा वाचताना धारपांच्या सिद्धहस्त लेखणीचे जाणीव आपल्याला होते. कथानकात पुढे काय होणार याची उत्सुकता कायम ठेवत वाचकाला आपल्या लेखनात गुंतवून ठेवतात. धारपांची भाषा चित्रमय आहे वाचकांच्या डोळ्यासमोर घटना प्रत्यक्ष उभे करण्याचे सामर्थ्य त्यांच्या भाषेत आहे. अज्ञात अकल्पनीय आणि अतर्क्सचा मागोवा घेणाऱ्या या कथा निश्चितपणे मराठीतील श्रेष्ठ भयकथा ठरतात. शेवटी पळती झाडे हा कथासंग्रह भयकथा प्रेमींसाठी नक्कीच मेजवानी ठरतो.
Shodh Ek Bhayavah Kadambari: शोध एक भयावह कादंबरी
