Golden Flames (The Delaneys: The Untamed Years #1)

by Kay Hooper

A Civil War treasure hunt unites a haunted socialite and a Delaney rogue in this breathtaking novel from New York Times bestselling author Kay Hooper. Victoria Fontaine may be a vision of genteel refinement, every inch the lady, but she has secrets that make her dangerous to any man bold enough to pursue her. Falcon Delaney is no fool, and he’s more than bold enough. He’s a master of seduction, a man who lights something primal inside her and almost makes Victoria forget the brutal ravages of a war that took everything from her. She lives by the rules of an unforgiving society, and yet Falcon seduces her heart and mind until none of that matters. To her shock, Victoria finally realizes she’s willing to disregard every rule to have him—until a heartbreaking telegram sends her riding west in deadly pursuit of a killer. Powerful, dangerous, and broodingly handsome, Falcon has spent years pursuing a stolen cache of Union gold. When he’s attacked and awakens in a locked New York cellar, gazing into the enchanting eyes of Victoria Fontaine, he’s more than willing to forget all about treasure. Torn between obsession and duty, Falcon longs to cherish Victoria, to understand the secrets and shadows he senses in her and make her his own. But, always a lone wolf, he cannot make any promises, even to the woman who has stolen his heart. Then Victoria is wrenched from his arms by a shocking blood debt—and Falcon has no choice but to follow her in a desperate race to reach her before her enemies do, to a place where danger, desire, and a shared destiny await. Haxan (The Haxan Series)

by Kenneth Hoover

From the author of Quaternity: “The story of an immortal champion in an American West that never was, and so is all the truer for it” (Richard Parks, author of The Long Look). Thermopylae. Masada. Agincourt. And now, Haxan, New Mexico Territory, circa 1874. Through a sea of time and dust, in places that might never be, or can’t become until something is set right, there are people destined to travel. Forever. Marshal John Marwood is one of these men. Taken from a place he called home, he is sent to fight an eternal war. It never ends, because the storm itself, this unending conflict, makes the world we know a reality. Along with all the other worlds waiting to be born. Or those that were born, but died like a guttering candle in eternal night . . . The first in a series, Haxan is Lonesome Dove meets The Punisher—real, gritty, violent, and blatantly uncompromising. “A mixture of western and urban fantasy, with a cold, moody atmosphere that makes us want to put on a sweater. The author leaves the door open for a sequel, but, given the kind of life Marwood lives, it could be set anywhere, or anytime.” —Booklist

Quaternity

by Kenneth Mark Hoover

“A poetic, doom-laden Western soaked in blood and frenzy. This Cormac McCarthyesque terror fantasia of a prequel both frames and outstrips Hoover’s Haxan” (Gemma Files, author of Spectral Evidence). Before he became a US federal marshal in Haxan, John Marwood rode with a band of killers up and down the Texas-Mexico border. Led by Abram Botis, an apostate from the Old Country, this gang of thirteen killers searches for the fabled golden city of Cibola, even riding through the barren, blood-soaked plains of Comancheria. In this violent crucible of blood, dust, and wind, Marwood discovers a nightmarish truth about himself, and conquers the silent, wintry thing coiled inside him. “After 2014’s brilliantly brutal Haxan, Hoover revisits his nightmarish American West . . . A western of blood and violence with a marked lack of redemption tinged with hints of the fantastic, this is a pitch-black western that resonates.” —Publishers Weekly “With a voice both sparse and poetic, Hoover takes on the hoary cliches of Western fiction and dismantles them one by one. In Quaternity, Hoover’s unflinching look at evil will challenge everything you know about yourself and the world we live in.” —Melissa Lenhardt, author of Heresy “Hoover does it again. Quaternity starts with a bang and doesn’t quit until a satisfying conclusion. This is my kind of weird west. Love it!” —Jennifer Brozek, author of The Last Days of Salton Academy

Menage: De chica buena a chica mala

by Kathleen Hope

by Kathleen Hope

by Kathleen Hope

“Non so cosa?” rispose Julia.

Menage: Rodeo Nocturno

by Kathleen Hope Anggena

"¿No sabes qué?", Respondió Julia. Ella no pudo evitarlo.

Menage: La brava ragazza diventa cattiva

by Kathleen Hope Letizia Baiardi

Libera e selvaggia?

The Films of Delmer Daves: Visions of Progress in Mid-Twentieth-Century America

by Douglas Horlock

Delmer Daves (1904–1977) was an American screenwriter, director, and producer known for his dramas and Western adventures, most notably Broken Arrow and 3:10 to Yuma. Despite the popularity of his films, there has been little serious examination of Daves’s work. Filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier has called Daves the most forgotten of American directors, and to date no scholarly monograph has focused on his work.In The Films of Delmer Daves: Visions of Progress in Mid-Twentieth-Century America, author Douglas Horlock contends that the director’s work warrants sustained scholarly attention. Examining all of Daves’s films, as well as his screenplays, scripts that were not filmed, and personal papers, Horlock argues that Daves was a serious, distinctive, and enlightened filmmaker whose work confronts the general conservatism of Hollywood in the mid-twentieth century. Horlock considers Daves’s films through the lenses of political and social values, race and civil rights, and gender and sexuality. Ultimately, Horlock suggests that Daves’s work—through its examination of bigotry and irrational fear and depiction of institutional and personal morality and freedom—presents a consistent, innovative, and progressive vision of America.
