Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics: A 10% Happier How-to Book

by Carlye Adler Dan Harris Jeffrey Warren

From the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling memoir 10% Happier, this book will get you to meditate. Minus the pan flutes. “If you’re like many people, you’re intrigued by the promise of meditation but don’t know how to begin—or you’ve benefited from meditation in the past but need help to get started again. If so, Dan Harris has written the book for you.”—Gretchen Rubin, author of The Four Tendencies and The Happiness Project ABC News anchor Dan Harris used to think that meditation was for people who collect crystals, play Ultimate Frisbee, and use the word “namaste” without irony. After he had a panic attack on live television, he went on a strange and circuitous journey that ultimately led him to become one of meditation’s most vocal public proponents. Here’s what he’s fixated on now: Science suggests that meditation can lower blood pressure, mitigate depression and anxiety, and literally rewire key parts of the brain, among numerous other benefits. And yet there are millions of people who want to meditate but aren’t actually practicing. What’s holding them back? In Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics, Harris and his friend Jeff Warren, a masterful teacher and “Meditation MacGyver,” embark on a cross-country quest to tackle the myths, misconceptions, and self-deceptions that stop people from meditating. They rent a rock-star tour bus (whose previous occupants were Parliament Funkadelic) and travel across eighteen states, talking to scores of would-be meditators—including parents, military cadets, police officers, and even a few celebrities. They create a taxonomy of the most common issues (“I suck at this,” “I don’t have the time,” etc.) and offer up science-based life hacks to help people overcome them. The book is filled with game-changing and deeply practical meditation instructions. You’ll also get access to the 10% Happier app, where you can listen for free to guided audio versions of all the meditations in the book. Amid it all unspools the strange and hilarious story of what happens when a congenitally sarcastic, type-A journalist and a groovy Canadian mystic embark on an epic road trip into America’s neurotic underbelly, as well as their own.

Boys and Their Toys: Understanding Men By Understanding Their Relationship With Gadgets

by Bill Adler

The key to understanding men is in understanding how they relate to their gadgets. Just because they may seem to show more interest in their computers...or their remote controls...or their fancy watches or their power mowers or their stereos...doesn't mean that their toys are really the most important things in their life. In Boys and Their Toys, bestselling author Bill Adler, Jr. explains how men use toys to assert their independence and freedom, relieve stress, connect to their lost childhood, and even express their nurturing side (without having to admit it). Written in Adler's fun, humorous style, the book reveals how women can: * learn how a man's interest in particular ""toys"" can be used to predict his behavior * know when a guy's passion for gadgets crosses the line into obsession and what to do about it * take advantage of the human-gadget relationship to improve the human-human relationship. Smart and funny, Boys and Their Toys helps readers understand what makes their men tick...and grow closer with them in the process.

La Sanidad Divina Aun Es El Pan De Los Hijos

by Dr Gilbert Adimora DIEGO F. CRUZ G.

Cura Divina

by Dr Gilbert Adimora

by Dr Gilbert Adimora

by Adidas Wilson et Maximus Wilson

Meditação: Um Guia Completo de Meditação Para a Felicidade, Alívio do Stress, Consciência e Paz Interior

by Adidas Wilson & Maximus Wilson

The Grandfamily Guidebook: Wisdom and Support for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

by Andrew Adesman Christine Adamec

Are you one of nearly 3 million grandparents across North America raising your grandchildren? You may have done all this parenting stuff before, but times have changed since you raised your own kids, and you likely never thought you’d be raising kids again. What has led to all these family issues and the growing need for grandparents to step up? Now more than ever, substance use and addiction have made many birth parents simply unfit for the job, whether the problem is alcohol, opioids, or other drugs. Family dynamics might also be undermined by parents’ mental health or medical problems, incarceration, or a simple lack of preparedness for family responsibilities. Whatever the reason for your new role, you must now help your grandchildren adjust to their extended family as part of their everyday life, through the best care you are able to provide. While your new role means that you will likely have to change the way you live, the kinship care you provide your grandchildren might make all the difference in the world. In The Grandfamily Guidebook—which leading medical experts have called a “must-have” resource for grandparents raising grandchildren—authors Andrew Adesman, MD, and Christine Adamec offer expert medical advice, helpful insights gleaned from other grandparents, and data mined from the 2016 Adesman Grandfamily Study—the broadest and most diverse research study of its kind to date. You’ll also find hands-on tips you’ll be able to reference whenever you need them, including how to cope with difficult birth parents, school issues and social-life challenges, problem behaviors that stem from a difficult past, and your own self-care. Starting with its foreword by the renowned Dr. William Sears, across this book you will find practical, inspiring help as you navigate the financial impacts, legal considerations, and medical issues that commonly arise when grandparents and grandchildren start becoming a grandfamily.
