INCOSE Needs and Requirements Manual: Needs, Requirements, Verification, Validation Across the Lifecycle
by Michael J. Ryan Louis S. Wheatcraft Tami Edner KatzComplete and comprehensive manual for eliciting, defining, and managing needs and requirements, integration, verification, and validation across the lifecycle The INCOSE Needs and Requirements Manual presents product development and systems engineering practices, activities, and artifacts from the perspective of needs, requirements, verification, and validation across the system lifecycle. Composed of 16 chapters, this book provides practical guidance to help organizations understand the importance of lifecycle concepts, needs, requirements, verification, and validation activities, enabling them to successfully and effectively implement these activities during product development, systems engineering, and project management. The parent handbook published by Wiley, INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook, divides the system lifecycle into a series of processes, with each process described in terms of a series of activities. This Manual provides more detail needed by practitioners to successfully implement these activities, with guidance and lessons learned from hundreds of years of collective experience of the authors, contributors, and reviewers. For example, while the Handbook mentions the need to define the problem statement, mission, goals, and objectives for a system, the Manual provides detailed guidance on doing so. Sample topics covered in the INCOSE Needs and Requirements Manual include: Defining the problem, opportunity, or threat and defining a mission statement, goals, objectives, and measures.Identifying external and internal stakeholders, eliciting stakeholder needs and requirements, defining drivers and constraints, and assessing risk.Performing lifecycle concept analysis and maturation and defining an integrated set of needs that represents the scope of the project.Transforming the integrated set of needs into well-formed design input requirements.Using attributes to manage needs and requirements across the lifecycle.Continuous integration, verification, and validation across the lifecycle.Moving between levels of the architecture, flow down and allocation of requirements, and budgeting performance, resource, and quality requirements.Defining the system verification and system validation success criteria, method, strategy, and responsible organizations.Planning and executing successful system verification and validation programs.Managing needs, requirements, verification, and validation across the lifecycle.Understanding the importance of an integrated, collaborative project team and effective communication between team members The INCOSE Needs and Requirements Manual is an essential accompanying reference to the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook for novice and seasoned system engineers, software engineers, project managers, product developers, tool vendors, course developers, educators, trainers, customers, suppliers, non-SE stakeholders , as well as researchers and students studying systems engineering and systems design.
INCREaSE 2023: Proceedings of the 3rd INternational CongRess on Engineering and Sustainability in the XXI CEntury (Advances in Sustainability Science and Technology)
by Jorge Filipe Leal Costa Semião Nelson Manuel Santos Sousa Rui Mariano Sousa da Cruz Gonçalo Nuno Delgado PratesThis book includes the proceedings of the 3rd International Congress on Engineering and Sustainability in the XXI CEntury, INCREaSE 2023. INCREaSE is a congress with the aim to bring together valuable and novel scientific contributions that address the critical issues of renewable energy, sustainable building, sustainable manufacturing, sustainable food production and other sustainability science and engineering topics that have an impact in this diverse and fast-changing research area, both in academia and industry. This 3rd edition of INCREaSE was held during July 5-7, 2023, in Faro, Portugal, organized by the Institute of Engineering and hosted by University of Algarve. The areas to be covered were:• Big data and data analytics applied to sustainability;• Climate change and mitigation, carbon reduction;• Combined heat and power and district heating systems;• Control and optimization of renewable energy systems;• Energy and environmental assessment in buildings and cities;• Food loss and food waste solutions;• Food safety and quality engineering;• Information technology and artificial intelligence applied to sustainability;• Nanoelectronic, nanomachining, and new nanomaterials;• Smart buildings, smart cities, smart districts, smart countryside;• Sustainability in water management;• Sustainable building technologies;• Sustainable development and circular economy;• Sustainable energy generation and management;• Sustainable food processing and packaging;• Sustainable manufacturing and maintenance processes and technology;• Sustainable technologies for risk mitigations;• Sustainable transport, smart vehicles and smart roads; and• Thermo fluids modelling and experiments for sustainability. High quality and unpublished content is an essential feature for all included papers. Moreover, the Organizing Committee of the conference guarantees that contributions were subjected to an appropriate level of reviewing process.
INDIA at the Crossroads
by Christopher Towe Tim Callen Patricia ReynoldsMacroeconomic developments during 2000 including a rebound of inflation, slowing industrial production, and downward pressure on the rupee and stock prices and have tempered optimism for India's macroeconomic performance during the last decade. They also underscore the longer-standing question of whether the basis for achieving sustained and rapid growth has yet been established in India. Most notably, fiscal policy, structural policy and poverty. These issues have been at the core of the ongoing policy dialog between the IMF staff and the Indian authorities, and this volume brings together some of the IMF staff's more recent analysis of these topics. Four main issues are addressed. Part I explores the factors underlying India's success in avoiding significant fallout from the Asia crisis and addresses broader questions regarding India's external vulnerability. Part II discusses the fiscal situation and the extent to which recent policies pose risks to India's growth prospects and debt sustainability. Monetary policy and financial sector reform are considered in Part III, and structural issues, including those related to poverty and interstate growth and structural policy implementation are covered in Part IV.
INDIA'S NEW CAPITALISTS: Caste, Business, and Industry in a Modern Nation
by Harish DamodaranIt?s no secret that certain social groups have predominated India?s business and trading history, with business traditionally being the preserve of particular `Bania? communities. However, the past four or so decades have seen a widening of the social base of Indian capital, such that the social profile of Indian business has expanded beyond recognition, and entrepreneurship and commerce in India are no longer the exclusive bastion of the old mercantile castes. In this meticulously researched book ? acclaimed for being the first social history to document and understand India?s new entrepreneurial groups ? Harish Damodaran looks to answer who the new `wealth creators? are, as he traces the transitional entry of India?s middle and lower peasant castes into the business world. Combining analytical rigour with journalistic flair, India?s New Capitalists is an essential read for anyone seeking to understand the culture and evolution of business in contemporary South Asia.
