Swing and Day Trading: Evolution of a Trader (Wiley Trading #601)
by Thomas N. BulkowskiComprehensive coverage of the four major trading styles Evolution of a Trader explores the four trading styles that people use when learning to trade or invest in the stock market. Often, beginners enter the stock market by: Buying and holding onto a stock (value investing). That works well until the trend ends or a bear market begins. Then they try Position trading. This is the same as buy-and-hold, except the technique sells positions before a significant trend change occurs. Swing trading follows when traders increase their frequency of trading, trying to catch the short-term up and down swings. Finally, people try Day trading by completing their trades in a single day. This series provides comprehensive coverage of the four trading styles by offering numerous tips, sharing discoveries, and discussing specific trading setups to help you become a successful trader or investor as you journey through each style. Trading Basics takes an in-depth look at money management, stops, support and resistance, and offers dozens of tips every trader should know. Fundamental Analysis and Position Trading discusses when to sell a buy-and-hold position, uncovers which fundamentals work best, and uses them to find stocks that become 10-baggers—stocks that climb by 10 times their original value. Swing and Day Trading reveals methods to time the market swings, including specific trading setups, but it covers the basics as well, such as setting up a home trading office and how much money you can make day trading.

Swire Beverages: Implementing CSR in China
by Christopher Marquis G. A. Donovan Yi Kwan ChuSwire Beverage, the largest Coca-Cola bottler in China, recently created a corporate social responsibility (CSR) organization to oversee environmental, community, health and safety initiatives at the companies' nine bottling plants in China. The case considers organizational design decisions in setting up the committee to oversee the diverse CSR initiatives that occurred in the dispersed plant locations, and the ongoing work to better connect CSR activities to Swire Beverage's brand and business strategy. Furthermore, the Swire Beverage CSR team needed to balance the interests of important stakeholders such as the Coca-Cola company, and corporate parent John Swire and Sons. Finally, the case also illustrates some of the key challenges of implementing CSR programs in China, particularly the difficulty of finding suitable NGO partners.
Swiss Energy Governance: Political, Economic and Legal Challenges and Opportunities in the Energy Transition
by Peter Hettich Aya KachiThis open access book gathers the results of an interdisciplinary research project led by the Swiss Competence Centers for Energy Research (SCCER CREST) and jointly implemented by several universities. It identifies political, economic and legal challenges and opportunities in the energy transition from a governance perspective by exploring a variety of tools that allow state, non-state and transnational actors to manage the transition of the energy industry toward less fossil-fuel reliance. When analyzing the roles of these actors, the authors examine not only formal procedures such as political and democratic processes, but also market behavior and societal practices. In other words, the handbook focuses on both the behavior and the positive and normative frameworks of political actors, bureaucracies, courts, international organizations, lobby groups, civil society, economic actors and individuals. The authors subsequently use their findings to formulate specific guidelines for lawmakers and other rule-makers, as well as private and public actors. To do so, they draw on approaches stemming from the legal, political and management sciences.

Swiss Finance: Banking, Finance, and Digitalization
by Henri B. Meier John E. Marthinsen Pascal A. Gantenbein Samuel S. WeberHow could a small country in the middle of Europe, surrounded by much bigger countries and economic giants like Germany and France and in direct competition with North American and Asian rivals, develop world-class, cutting-edge financial markets? Swiss Finance answers this question, separating myth from reality, by explaining how Switzerland managed dramatic pressures brought to bear on its financial markets during the past two decades, perhaps none of them so great as the: · Competitive challenges caused by changes in Switzerland's banking secrecy laws and practices, · Shifting tide of new wealth generation toward Asia (e.g., China, Singapore, and South Korea), · Burdensome federal stamp and withholding taxes, and · Digitalization of the financial services industry, including cybersecurity, cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, central bank digital currencies, the FinTech revolution, and DLT applications. Swiss Public Administration: Making the State Work Successfully (Governance and Public Management)

Swissgrid: Enterprise Risk Management in a Digital Age
by Robert S. Kaplan Anette MikesKurt Meyer, chief risk officer of Swissgrid, the Swiss national electricity transmission system operator, reflects on the risk management system he installed after the deregulation and liberalization of the European energy market. With 41 connections to other European networks, a failure in Swissgrid's network could interrupt the supply of electricity in Switzerland and much of Europe. Meyer describes the periodic interactive risk workshops conducted at each business unit to identify, assess, and mitigate risks. Executive Risk Workshops of the CEO and the company's leadership team discuss the business units' risk profiles and risks that cut across the units, such as safety, weather, and regulatory changes. New and emerging risks are discussed at Extraordinary Risk Workshops. Meyer recently deployed an app on employees' smartphones for them to easily report anomalies or concerns. Reports from the app are embedded in a new real-time crisis management platform used by several Swiss companies, federal authorities, and the Swiss Army. Despite a full array of risk management tools and processes, Meyer remains concerned about risks yet to be identified.

Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard
by Chip Heath Dan HeathWhy is it so hard to make lasting changes in our companies, in our communities, and in our own lives? The primary obstacle is a conflict that's built into our brains, say Chip and Dan Heath, authors of the critically acclaimed bestseller Made to Stick. Psychologists have discovered that our minds are ruled by two different systems--the rational mind and the emotional mind--that compete for control. The rational mind wants a great beach body; the emotional mind wants that Oreo cookie. The rational mind wants to change something at work; the emotional mind loves the comfort of the existing routine. This tension can doom a change effort--but if it is overcome, change can come quickly. In Switch, the Heaths show how everyday people--employees and managers, parents and nurses--have united both minds and, as a result, achieved dramatic results: The lowly medical interns who managed to defeat an entrenched, decades-old medical practice that was endangering patients. The home-organizing guru who developed a simple technique for overcoming the dread of housekeeping. The manager who transformed a lackadaisical customer-support team into service zealots by removing a standard tool of customer service In a compelling, story-driven narrative, the Heaths bring together decades of counterintuitive research in psychology, sociology, and other fields to shed new light on how we can effect transformative change. Switch shows that successful changes follow a pattern, a pattern you can use to make the changes that matter to you, whether your interest is in changing the world or changing your waistline. From the Hardcover edition.

Switching Off: Meeting Our Energy Needs in A Constrained Future (SpringerBriefs in Energy)
by Patrick Moriarty Damon HonneryThe book is about global energy use, its past and present, and its increasingly uncertain future. It lists the various ecological problems facing our planet, not just climate change, and how their gravity has been underestimated. It briefly looks at the various solutions, apart from renewable energy, proposed for solving the problems our present energy use raises, including solar radiation management, carbon dioxide removal, nuclear energy, and energy efficiency. Renewable energy (RE) is seen by many as the panacea for a variety of environmental challenges, and with the New Green Deal, even as a means of accelerating economic growth. The book critically examines the prospects for RE. It concludes that although it is essential that the world shifts to RE, not only will the ecologically sustainable energy from all RE sources likely fall well short of even present global energy use, but the very short time frame left for effective action means that RE cannot be more than of minor help. Hence, deep energy reductions will be needed, especially in high-income OECD countries. The book uses an Earth Systems Science approach, which is necessary because of the interconnection between the various challenges our Earth faces. It aims to combine the latest findings from a diverse array of biophysical as well as socioeconomic sciences to uncover the increasingly constrained energy options we will encounter.
Switchpoints for the Future of Logistics
by Wolfgang Stölzle Thorsten Klaas-Wissing Ingo Wieck Martin StreichfussRoland Berger Strategy Consultants and the University of St. Gallen's Chair of Logistics Management conducted this study in order to identify and assess switchpoints that will shape the future of the logistics industry. Rather than making projections focused on a fixed point in time, the authors instead aimed to identify the most unpredictable developments that could impact logistics. Consequently, the topics for discussion range from fairly specific near-future developments to more exploratory "blue-sky" topics. Throughout their highly interesting discussions with respondents and experts, the authors encountered a wide range of uncommon and unexpected, but not at all unlikely projections for the future.

Switzerland and its Banks: A Short History (Frontiers in Economic History)
by Nils HergerThis book provides a history of Swiss banking not confined to stereotypical opinions about secret numbered accounts. Instead, the presented history covers other intriguing events and developments beyond the famous issue of banking secrecy and the corresponding scandals. Topics covered in the book include the early financial innovations by banks in Geneva to handle the sovereign risk on bonds issued in pre-revolutionary France, the monetary chaos that led to the creation of the Swiss franc, the rather peculiar banknote competition and free-banking system in Switzerland during most of the nineteenth century, how the country and its currency became a financial safe haven after World War I, the golden age of Swiss banking when Zurich was briefly one of the largest financial centres in the world, and the exceptional shocks during and after the recent global financial crisis. In sum, a fascinating story emerges about an internationally important banking centre in one of the most unlikely places in the world. This book is a must-read for students, scholars, and researchers of economics and finance, as well as practitioners interested in a better understanding of economic history in general, and Swiss banking in particular.
Switzerland and the European Union: A Close, Contradictory and Misunderstood Relationship (Europe and the Nation State #Vol. 11)
by Clive H. ChurchDespite its geographical centrality and its considerable economic involvement in Europe, Switzerland remains unusual in that it is neither a member of the European Union or the European Economic Area. At a time when the Union is both expanding and seeking to develop its integration, the country constitutes a real anomaly amongst west European states. This book demonstrates the range, depth and complexity of Switzerland’s developing relations with Europe and provides detailed and up-to-date information on Switzerland itself. Considering a variety of dimensions of the country and its ambiguous relations with the EU, the contributors, all of whom are leading specialists on Swiss-EU relations, explore: the classical political obstacles to entry: federalism, direct democracy, neutrality and the growing strength of anti-European populism policy barriers to integration: in trade and economics generally, in financial matters, and in social provisions relating to the movement of people the negotiation of the two sets of bilateral accords which presently structure Swiss relations with the Union the EU response and the prospects for future Swiss-EU relations. Switzerland and the European Union will appeal to specialists on Switzerland, academics and students in politics and international relations, and practitioners in European integration and Swiss politics.
Switzerland in Europe: Continuity and Change in the Swiss Political Economy (Routledge Advances in European Politics)
by Christine Trampusch André MachWhile Switzerland is well known for its specific political institutions, such as direct democracy, federalism and neutrality, or for its banking secrecy, its socio-economic institutions, which decisively contributed to its prosperity, remain relatively unexplored. This book gives the first systematic overview of Swiss political economy in comparative perspectives. Divided into four sections, the first offers an introduction to Swiss political economy, its major political institutions and Switzerland’ relationship to the EU. The remaining three sections provide case studies on different parts of the political economy and policy fields. The case studies with in part two and three focus on economic actors, major socio-economic institutions addressing corporate governance, finance, labour market, skills and training. Part four addresses social and economic policies, including welfare, liberalization and economic regulatory reforms. Switzerland in Europe also offers several insights into important literature in comparative political economy: the varieties of capitalism, small states, institutional change and patterns of democracy. This will be of interest students and scholars of comparative politics, political economy, Switzerland, small states and European Studies.
