Blob: A Love Story
by Maggie Su“There is so much at play in this wondrous novel. Vi, struggling to place herself in any context that makes sense within the world, earnestly leads us into a wild experiment, to turn a blob into the man of her dreams, and I was transfixed by her voice. This is a book that looks at identity and desire in profoundly interesting ways.” — Kevin Wilson, bestselling author of Now Is Not the Time to PanicA humorous and deeply moving debut novel in the vein of Bunny and Convenience Store Woman about a young woman who tries to shape a sentient blob into her perfect boyfriend. The daughter of a Taiwanese father and white mother, Vi Liu has never quite fit into her Midwestern college town. Aimless after getting dumped by her boyfriend and dropping out of college, Vi works at the front desk of a hotel where she greets guests, refills cucumber water samovars, and tries to evade her bubbly blond coworker, Rachel. Little does Vi know her life is about to be permanently transformed when she agrees to a night out with Rachel. In the alley outside the bar, Vi discovers a strange blob—a small living creature with beady black eyes. In a moment of concern and drunken desperation, she takes it home. But the blob is no ordinary pet. Becoming increasingly sentient, it begins to grow, shift shape, and obey Vi’s commands. As the entity continues to change, Vi is struck with a daring idea: she’ll mold the creature into her ideal partner. Feeding it a stream of sweet breakfast cereals and American pop culture, the creature grows into a movie-star handsome white man. But when Vi’s desire to be loved unconditionally threatens to spiral out of control, she is forced to confront her lonely childhood, her aloof ex-boyfriend, and the racial marginalization that has defined her relationships—a journey of self-discovery that teaches her it’s impossible to control those you love.Blending the familiar with the surreal, Blob is a witty, heartfelt story about the search for love and self and what it means to be human.

Blogger Girl (The Blogger Girl Series #1)
by Meredith Schorr“Sassy, sexy, endlessly entertaining, and full of laughs . . . one of those books that keeps you up at night because you can’t wait to see what happens next” (Tracie Banister, author of Izzy As Is). Book blogger Kim Long has worked tirelessly to squash the claim that “chick lit is dead” once and for all. Not bad for a woman who by day ekes out a meager living as a pretty—and pretty-much-nameless—legal secretary in Manhattan. But while she finds no passion in the day job, she finds plenty in the handsome associate down the hall. At least until her high school nemesis, mean girl Hannah Marshak, bursts back into town. Not only does she flash onto the chick lit scene with a hot new book that’s turning heads—and pages—but Kim’s afraid she’s turning the head of her handsome colleague as well. Adding salt to her wounded heart, Hannah’s book has popped into Kim’s inbox—along with a request for review. With a mere click of her mouse, Kim can deliver a nasty one-star review to thousands of followers. Or she could put on her big-girl panties and use Hannah’s success as a challenge to unearth a dream that she’s kept hidden for years . . . “What a fun page-turning book this was!” —Katie Oliver, bestselling author of the Dating Mr. Darcy Series “I consider it the Girls Just Want to Have Fun of books.” —Chick Lit Central “What a fun book. Blood Red Turns Dollar Green: A Novel (Blood Red Turns Dollar Green)
by Paul O'BrienNew York City, 1969. Danno Garland is a middling member of the National Wrestling Council, a secretive syndicate of pro-wrestling promoters. He’s kept his head down for fifteen years, but now he’s found a new heavyweight champion, Babu, and plans to use him to build a wrestling empire. Blocked, though, by the NWC, Danno makes a deal with Florida boss Proctor King to ensure Danno’s man will be the next title holder. In exchange, the belt will go to Proctor’s son, Gilbert, once he’s out of prison in a couple of years.

But things don’t go according to plan, and now Danno is standing in a sold-out Shea Stadium on the night of biggest wrestling card of all time, and neither Babu nor Gilbert has shown up. Meanwhile, Lenny Long, Danno’s driver, is walking dazedly from the overturned van that was supposed to bring them to the venue, and the only sign of Gilbert is his foot.
Across the country, Proctor nervously watches the show on TV, wondering why his screw-up of a son doesn’t already have the championship belt in his hands. It’s taken four years of pay-offs, double dealing, and bone-breaking to arrange this match, and if all that’s gone to waste, he might just have to take a business trip to New York. The "fake” world of professional wrestling is going to get very real.
Blood Soaked & Contagious
by James CrawfordA zombie killer-for-hire faces off against a dangerous undead overlord in this post-apocalyptic science fiction horror series debut.I am not going to complain to you about my life. We’ve got zombies. They are not the brainless, rotting creatures we’d been led to expect. Unfortunately for us, they’re just as smart as they were before they died, very fast, much stronger than you or me, and possess no internal editor at all.Claws. Did I mention claws?I kill them for a living, but it’s as much a vocation as a freelance career choice. It helps me, helps my neighborhood, and the people I consider to be my family of choice. What’s more? I’m really good at it.My life had a nice rhythm, and I'd almost gotten used to it, but the military bungled an attempt to wipe out an organized bunch of undead near a major commuting route into D.C. The formerly-human survivors relocated. Now they’re less than an hour’s stroll away from where I live. The new Zombie Overlord is smarter, crazier, and much more well-equipped than anyone we’d dealt with in the past. We have something he wants, badly. I know he’s going to come and get it and try and wipe us out in the process . . . men, women, and even the children. I’d seen it done before elsewhere for lesser reasons. This is my home. These are my people, my family. This is personal.Praise for Blood Soaked and Contagious“I give it an “EW!” factor of +10!” —Diana Gabaldon, #1 New York Times–bestselling author of the Outlander Series
