Frightening Kidnap

by Donnefar Skedar Roberto W. Nobrega

“Frightening Kidnap” would be just an independent tale of any given work that I would create over time, but in every little bit of the story that I wrote, I ended up noticing it created its own course and totally swerved from the horror tale I was writing at first. Thus, this tale ended up being isolated and unique, a short and simple suspense tale, full of mystery. Nowadays, it is part of book “Cadavérico”, but the e-version was released separately. This version is the same as the one in the book, the only differences are the inscription and this note, which may be found in the original “Cadavérico”.

Frightening Strikes (Destroyer #141)

by Warren Murphy Richard Sapir Tim Somheil

MEAT OFF THE BONE A giant squid found in the wake of a bizarre oceanic maelstrom dies in a Chicago aquarium. But its eggs are bursting with life-as in megavolts of killer electricity that are luring victims to their death. Sort of. Human flesh zapped into bite-size pieces, the unwilling leftovers manage to pull themselves back together, staying fresh until the next meal. But one of the unlucky entrees is now pulsating with evil energy, becoming stronger as it fries and consumes hapless citizens. Harold Smith reads the situation clearly: this lightning rod of killing power is given the task of protecting the eggs until they reach full earth-consuming maturity. Remo enters the fray, only to discover that this highwattage freak and a huddle of monstrous baby squid are more than ready to take their pound of flesh from the Masters of Sinanju.

Frio ardente.

Frisk: A Novel (Books That Changed the World)

by Dennis Cooper

Second in the award-winning George Miles Cycle, &“as intense a dissection of human relationships and obsession that modern literature has ever attempted&” (The Guardian). When Dennis is thirteen, he sees a series of photographs of a boy apparently unimaginably mutilated. Dennis is not shocked but stunned by their mystery and their power; their glimpse at the reality of death. Some years later, Dennis meets the boy who posed for the photographs. He did it for love. Surrounded by images of violence, the celebrity of horror, news of disease, a wasteland of sex, Dennis flies to Europe, having discovered some clues about the photographs: &“I see these criminals on the news who&’ve killed someone methodically, and they&’re free. They know something amazing. You can just tell.&” An isolated windmill in Holland provides the perfect setting for Dennis to find out more about bodies—of which there are many—and what is inside them. In Frisk, as in the award-winning Closer, Dennis Cooper explores the limits of our knowledge and the dividing line between the body and the spirit. Frisk is a novel about the power of fantasy and faith, about the ecstasy and horror of being human. &“A significant work of fiction. Cooper . . . wants to lead us into the wormy heart of the murderous impulse.&” —Michael Cunningham, Pulitzer Prize–winning author of The Hours &“Destined to classic status.&” —Los Angeles Times Book Review &“Dennis Cooper, a disturbing and transcendent artist, enters the mind of a killer and comes out with genuine revelation.&” —Michael Silverblatt, host of Bookworm &“An electrifying study in carnage.&” —The Sunday Times

From Another Island: Adventures And Misadventures Of An Airline Stewardess

by Sherry Waterman

Author was a stewardess for American Airlines who began her career in 1950.“A world-travelling airline hostess’ own story of flying, this cheerful, often-amusing tale will be of special interest to women readers. Miss Waterman, daughter of a World War I pilot, and a stewardess from 1949 until a few years ago, states a romantic and near-mystical premise for her career. It has to do with an “island” of imagination all aviators know about, a place just beyond the next stop which holds for them the potential of adventure. And it is also, of course, the rarefied, empty world they travel in thousands of feet above Earth. Pursuing that “island”, this girl’s named life took her across the U.S., down to Mexico, and on to the romantic world of the Far East. She tells the story of that life, of the day-to-day episodes, mishaps, and occasional tension it produces, with throughout respect for her job and for her fellow airline employees. And whether the scene be a teeming Oriental city or near-deserted Midway Island, she finds something of value to see and report to her readers. A very pleasant little book, with plus interest for young adults.”—Kirkus Reviews
