With the help of his new friends Bixby and Dukmee, Cantor must uncover the secrets of the corrupt guild before they become too powerful to be stopped. But his skills aren’t progressing as fast as he would like, and as he finds himself deeper and deeper in the guild’s layers of deceit, Cantor struggles to determine where his true allegiance lies.

One Ring to Bind Them All: Tolkien's Mythology
by Anne C. PettyThis academic analysis of, "The Hobbit," and, "The Lord of the Rings," leads Tolkien fans to consider his work in new ways. It suggests that Tolkien's myth conforms to the mythic content, characters and story progressions Joseph Campbell has described. The author also sites evidence that artists are responsible to inspire, not by stating lessons and rules, but by creating complex myths where values are demonstrated by characters' actions and choices, and in which readers can imagine themselves facing the challenges of a quest. She uses many examples of elements of folklore in Tolkien's work as described by Propp and Levi-Strauss. Using a list of lettered and numbered abbreviations, she creates equations which summarize the storylines of the epic from Bilbo's meeting with the dwarves in the Hobbit to Frodo's sailing away from Middle-earth with the elves in the last volume of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. As Petty employs her abbreviations liberally throughout the text, the reader may find it helpful to consult appendix A on page 120 where they are listed. These are followed by Appendix B, schemes of the Tales, notes listed by chapter, a bibliography and an index.

One Second After
by William R. ForstchenNew York Times bestselling author William R. Forstchen tells a story that might be all too terrifyingly real. A story in which one man struggles to save his family and his small North Carolina town after America loses a war that sends our nation back to the Dark Ages. A war lost because of a terrifying weapon, an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP). And it may already be in the hands of our enemies. Months before publication, One Second After has already been cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read. It has been discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a realistic look at EMPs and their awesome ability to send catastrophic Shockwaves throughout the United States, literally within seconds. It is a weapon that The Wall Street Journal warned could shatter our nation. In the tradition of On the Beach, Fail-Safe, and Testament, this book, set in a typical American town, is a dire warning of what might be our future... and our end.
