The Good That Men Do (Star Trek: Enterprise)
by Andy Mangels Michael A. MartinPax Galactica. Enemies become allies. Old secrets are at last revealed. Long-held beliefs and widely accepted truths are challenged. Man turns to leisurely pursuits. In this golden age, two old friends are drawn together. They seek to understand, and wonder how what they have long believed, what they have been taught, was never so. Over two hundred years ago, the life of one of Starfleet's earliest pioneers came to a tragic end, and Captain Jonathan Archer, the legendary commander of Earth's first warp-five starship, lost a close friend. Or so it seemed for many years. But with the passage of time, and the declassification of certain crucial files, the truth about that fateful day -- the day that Commander Charles "Trip" Tucker III didn't die -- could finally be revealed. Why did Starfleet feel it was necessary to rewrite history? And why only now can the truth be told?

The Good for Nothings
by Danielle BanasWhip-smart and utterly charming, Danielle Banas's irreverent YA sci-fi adventure The Good for Nothings is perfect for fans of Guardians of the Galaxy, The Lunar Chronicles, and Firefly.Cora Saros is just trying her best to join the family business of theft and intergalactic smuggling. Unfortunately, she's a total disaster. After landing herself in prison following an attempted heist gone very wrong, she strikes a bargain with the prison warden: He'll expunge her record if she brings back a long-lost treasure rumored to grant immortality. Cora is skeptical, but with no other way out of prison (and back in her family's good graces), she has no choice but to assemble a crew from her collection of misfit cellmates—a disgraced warrior from an alien planet; a cocky pirate who claims to have the largest ship in the galaxy; and a glitch-prone robot with a penchant for baking—and take off after the fabled prize. But the ragtag group soon discovers that not only is the too-good-to-be-true treasure very real, but they're also not the only crew on the hunt for it. And it's definitely a prize worth killing for.Praise for The Good for Nothings:"A fun, galaxy-spanning treasure hunt with plenty of action and heart." —Publishers Weekly

Helped by an elf with a background in journalism and a masters degree in being really pleased with herself, Mordak sets out to discover what on earth (if indeed, that's where he is) is going on. The Gormenghast Novels
by Mervyn PeakeA doomed lord, an emergent hero, and a dazzling array of bizarre creatures inhabit the magical world of the Gormenghast novels which, along with Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, reign as one of the undisputed fantasy classics of all time. At the center of it all is the seventy-seventh Earl, Titus Groan, who stands to inherit the miles of rambling stone and mortar that form Gormenghast Castle and its kingdom, unless the conniving Steerpike, who is determined to rise above his menial position and control the House of Groan, has his way. In these extraordinary novels, Peake has created a world where all is like a dream--lush, fantastical, and vivid.
The Gormenghast Trilogy: 100 Unseen Illustrations
by Mervyn PeakeThe first complete paperback edition of the restored Gormenghast Novels, including twelve critical essays and the original fragment of Mervyn Peake's unfinished fourth novel, Titus Awakes.

A doomed lord, an emergent hero, an array of bizarre creatures, and an ancient royal family plagued by madness and intrigue―these are the denizens of ancient, sprawling, tumbledown Gormenghast Castle. Within its vast halls and serpentine corridors, the members of the Groan dynasty and their master Lord Sepulchrave grow increasingly out of touch with a changing world as they pass their days in unending devotion to meaningless rituals and arcane traditions. Meanwhile, an ambitious kitchen boy named Steerpike rises by devious means to the post of Master of the Ritual while he maneuvers to bring down the Groans.

In these extraordinary novels, Peake has created a world where all is like a dream: lush, fantastical, vivid; a symbol of dark struggle. Accompanying the text are Peake's own drawings, illustrating the whole assembly of strange creatures that inhibit Gormenghast.
The Gospel According to Harry Potter: Spirituality in the Stories of the World's Most Famous Seeker
by Connie Nealfrom a Review of "The Gospel According to Harry Potter by Connie Neal" by Jonathan Marlowe, pastor of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Granit Quarry, NC Connie Neal goes carefully through the four Harry Potter books that have been published so far, and patiently shows us the same kind of "points of contact" with the Bible that I discussed with the children in my church. These "points of contact" (or "glimmers of the gospel," as she calls them) include how Lily Potter's sacrifice for the sake of her son Harry corresponds to Christ's sacrifice for us on the cross, how Dumbledore's deep wisdom mirrors the character of God, and how evil forces operate through deception and violence. Neal is careful not to treat the Potter series as Christian allegory, acknowledging that the Potter stories are different from C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia. But she wants to prove that J. K. Rowling was right when she said, "You can find in these stories whatever you are looking for." So many have found evidence of witchcraft and the occult in these stories because that is what they were seeking. But Neal has gone to the same stories looking instead for the gospel, and much to the reader's delight, she has found it.
The Gospel According to Harry Potter: The Spritual Journey of the World's Greatest Seeker
by Connie NealIn this inspiring consideration of the spiritual themes in the popular Harry Potter series, well-known Christian author and Harry Potter fan Connie Neal explores the world of magic and mystery created by J. K. Rowling alongside the stories and grand themes of the Bible. Contrary to those who reject the series as a threat to the Christian faith, Neal demonstrates how the lessons in Harry Potter not only echo many of the stories in the Bible but reinforce the central messages of Christianity. This revised and expanded edition explores all seven installments in the Harry Potter series. (This book has not been prepared, endorsed, or licensed by any person or entity that created, published, or produced the Harry Potter books or related properties.)
The Gospel according to Star Wars: Faith, Hope, And The Force
by John C. McDowellIn a new and updated version of this best-selling book, John McDowell explores the many spiritual themes that weave throughout the Star Wars films. From the Force to the dark side, the issues discussed in the films have a moral and spiritual complexity that, if paid attention to, can help us better understand our place in the world and our relation to others and to God. George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, did not intend for his films to be mere entertainment, McDowell argues. Rather, he hoped his films would be used as a vehicle for moral education.

This new version has been thoroughly revised to include discussion of The Force Awakens and other new developments in the Star Wars universe.
