Practicing the Present: The Neglected Art of Living in the Now
by John KoesslerThe present is more than a place where the past comes to rest.It is more than a staging ground for the future. The present is where God shows up.We live our lives in the present, but often our minds are racing toward the future or overwhelmed by the past. We want to change the past and control the future, but usually all we really do is exhaust ourselves in the here and now. Writing especially with church leaders in mind, Dr. John Koessler, a former pastor and professor, teaches you how to evade the tyranny of past regrets and future plans and meet God right where you are, in the present.
Practising Happiness: How Mindfulness Can Free You From Psychological Traps And Help You Build The Life You Want
by Ruth A. BaerMindfulness is a way of paying attention that originates in Eastern meditation traditions but is increasingly discussed and practised in Western culture. It is usually defined as focusing one's complete attention on present-moment experiences in a non-judgemental and accepting way. Buddhist traditions suggest that the cultivation of mindfulness through the practice of meditation reduces suffering and cultivates positive qualities, such as insight, wisdom, compassion and equanimity. In recent years, the Western mental health community has adapted mindfulness meditation practices for use in medical and mental health settings, and several interventions based on mindfulness training are now widely available. Those with the best scientific support include mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). These treatments can be applied to a wide range of problems, disorders and populations and the evidence increasingly supports their efficacy.Practising Happiness is the first self-help book to integrate the wisdom, skills and practices available from the four leading evidence-based mindfulness treatments (MBSR, MBCT, DBT and ACT).FREE audio content and guided meditations are available at www.practising-happiness.co.uk

by Danna Prather Davis""Pragmatic Public Speaking: A Workshop Approach to Real World Speeches" explains why speaking well is a necessary tool for professional success, and how to speak well in a variety of situations and genres. Using a workbook format, each chapter of the book discusses why a particular type of speech is useful and gives tips on preparation and provides two practice assignments. Pragmatism and the Search for Coherence in Neuroscience
by Jay SchulkinWe have known for over a thousand years that the brain underlies behavioral expression, but effective scientific study of the brain is only very recent. In Pragmatism and the Search for Coherence in Neuroscience, two things converge: a great respect for neuroscience and its many variations, and a sense of investigation and inquiry demythologized. Schulkin seeks to anchor inquiry about neuroscience to objects and adaptation, whilst also showing that neuroscience is symbolic of the very Socratic idea to 'know thyself,' as the brain is that very organ that renders such knowledge possible. Think of it as foraging for coherence.

The Praise Of Glory: A Carmelite Nun Of Dijon (1901-1906)
by Sister Elizabeth Of The TrinityThis autobiographical collection of letters and diary entries by Elizabeth of the Trinity relates the life of the young nun whose intense spiritualism inspired many.Elizabeth tells of her formative years as an ill-tempered youth, and of determining from a young age that she should be a nun. She would see God in all things, and was an enthusiastic teacher and reader of various holy texts and works of historic saints. Gifted with words, Elizabeth was capable of writing evocative letters and speeches rich in spiritual allusion; given her youth, this ability was thought extraordinary.Tragically Elizabeth succumbed to illness at the young age of twenty-six. Despite the pain of her disease, she continued to write almost until the end, offering counsel and comfort to those around her.In a historic decision, Elizabeth of the Trinity was canonized as a saint in 2016 by Pope Francis. Recognized for her spiritual gravitas, the process of Elizabeth's beatification began in 1931 - her writings, including those in this collection, were intensively studied by committees in the Catholic Church. Several letters appended to the beginning of this book attest to Elizabeth's humble status as a daughter of God, her purity of being and perfection as an adorer of the Blessed Trinity.-Print ed.

Pratikraman: The Key that resolves all Conflicts (Full Version)
by Dada BhagwanThose seeking to lead a spiritual life inevitably face challenges in their sincere pursuit of spirituality and practice. As spiritual development progresses, facing the many unintentional mistakes made through mind, speech, and conduct become disconcerting. Naturally one begins to wonder, “How to forgive and forget in unhealthy relationships?”, “How to forgive yourself - both for mistakes of the past and for ongoing mistakes in the present?” One of the most powerful tools for spiritual healing of both past and present is repentance with sincere apology. Yet, it is rare to find a concise scripture on forgiveness. In the book “Pratikraman: Freedom Through Apology & Repentance”, Gnani Purush (embodiment of Self knowledge) Dada Bhagwan describes the spiritual power of forgiveness prayer, and offers a precise formula for asking for forgiveness. The book allows anyone seeking to practice spiritual forgiveness prayer to easily understand how to repent, how to forgive someone, and self.
Pratikraman:

by Dada BhagwanJeder Mensch begeht gegen seinen Willen Fehler.
