Pequeñas grandes historias del basquetbol uruguayo

by Jorge Señorans

Perceived Exertion Laboratory Manual

by Michael Gallagher Jr. Luke Haile Robert J. Robertson

This manual provides laboratory-based learning experiences in perceptually and psychosocially linked exercise assessment, prescription, and programming. The primary pedagogic outcome is the ability to use applied theory and practice in perceptual and psychosocial exercise assessment and program design to promote the adoption and maintenance of a physically active lifestyle, enhancing overall health fitness. Perceptual and psychosocial variables are presented in individual, stand-alone laboratory modules that can supplement existing curricula such as exercise and sport psychology, exercise physiology, exercise testing and prescription, and exercise training and conditioning. In addition, the complete modular set has a conceptual flow that allows its presentation as an entire, laboratory-based course. The laboratory modules are divided into three primary units: assessment (theoretical constructs, scales and procedures, tests), prescription (self-regulation, performance), and program evaluation. The manual uses a unique format in which case studies are embedded in the conceptual flow of each lab module facilitating translation of laboratory results to real-world application. The manual concludes with a discussion of perceptually and psychosocially linked exercise prescription and programming applications in public health, such as program monitoring and adherence.

Perceptions of East Asian and Asian North American Athletics (East Asian Popular Culture)

by Cynthia Wang Steve Bien-Aimé

This book highlights inconsistencies within the field of sports scholarship and provides an opportunity to open up and extend conversations about the intersection of sports media and race — particularly surrounding athletes of East Asian descent. Despite the growing influence of East Asian and Asian American/Canadian athletes, they are still underrepresented in Western media and in scholarship. This anthology adds much-needed literature to sports, popular culture, East Asian, and Asian American studies. The prominence of sports in global popular culture makes the intersections explored in this collection a crucial addition to existing conversations about both sports and East Asian/Asian American/Canadian studies.

Percutaneous and Minimally Invasive Foot Surgery

by Cyrille Cazeau Yves Stiglitz

This book on percutaneous and minimally invasive foot surgery comprehensively covers one of the most innovative topics in orthopedic surgery, discussing decision-making based on foot biomechanics and presenting step-by-step descriptions of each surgical procedure. The chapters are divided into four sections, the first of which lays the groundwork for further reading by providing a comprehensive overview of the biomechanical approach. The second part then guides readers through making appropriate choices in order to ensure stable corrections and allow immediate full weight-bearing and fast rehabilitation without compromising patient outcomes. In the third part, leading surgeons in the field describe each procedure step-by-step with the help of operative pictures, while the last part addresses technical postoperative issues, such as postoperative dressing and cast management, as well as complications and how to reduce them. All chapters are richly illustrated and clearly highlight the key points for successful surgery and minimized risks. Unique in its focus on percutaneous and minimally invasive foot surgery, this book offers an invaluable resource for postgraduate students, residents, orthopedists wanting to specialize in foot surgery, as well as practicing orthopedic surgeons and podiatrists.

Perder Peso Em Uma Semana

by PEDRO HUGO GARCÍA PELÁEZ Sara Maria Silva Oliveira

Perdere peso in una settimana

by Daniela Giovannetti PEDRO HUGO GARCÍA PELÁEZ

Peredo Total

by Daniel Peredo

Perfect

by Lew Paper

"If you want to live inside the most famous statistical afternoon in baseball history, Perfect is. . . well, let's just say 'ideal'. " -Chuck Closterman, Esquire On October 8, 1956, New York Yankees pitcher Don Larsen took the mound for game five of the World Series against the rival Brooklyn Dodgers. In an improbable performance that the New York Times called "the greatest moment in the history of the Fall Classic," Larsen, an otherwise mediocre journeyman pitcher, retired twenty-seven straight Dodger batters to clinch a perfect game and, to date, the only postseason no-hitter ever witnessed in major league baseball. Here, Lew Paper delivers a masterful pitch-by-pitch account of that fateful day and the extraordinary lives of the players on the field- seven of whom would later be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Meticulously researched and relying on dozens of interviews, Paper's gripping narrative recreates Larsen's feat in a pitching duel that featured legendary figures such as Mickey Mantle, Jackie Robinson, Yogi Berra, and Roy Campanella. More than just the story of a single game, Perfect is a window into baseball's glorious past.

Perfectly Awful: The Philadelphia 76ers' Horrendous and Hilarious 1972-1973 Season

by Charley Rosen

During the 1972–1973 basketball season, the Philadelphia 76ers were not just a bad team; they were fantastically awful. Doomed from the start after losing their leading scorer and rebounder, Billy Cunningham, as well as head coach Jack Ramsay, they lost twenty-one of their first twenty-three games. A Philadelphia newspaper began calling them the Seventy Sickers, and they duly lost their last thirteen games on their way to a not-yet-broken record of nine wins and seventy-three losses. Charley Rosen recaptures the futility of that season through the firsthand accounts of players, participants, and observers. Although the team was uniformly bad, there were still many memorable moments, and the lore surrounding the team is legendary. Once, when head coach Roy Rubin tried to substitute John Q. Trapp out of a game, Trapp refused and told Rubin to look behind the team’s bench, whereby one of Trapp’s friends supposedly opened his jacket to show his handgun. With only four wins at the All-Star break, Rubin was fired and replaced by player-coach Kevin Loughery. In addition to chronicling the 76ers’ woes, Perfectly Awful also captures the drama, culture, and attitude of the NBA in an era when many white fans believed that the league had too many black players.

Performance Analysis in Game Sports: Concepts and Methods

by Martin Lames

This book offers a comprehensive overview on the methods and concepts of theoretical and practical performance analysis. Observational systems for action detection and tracking systems for position detection are introduced, starting from basic methodological principles. The issue of reliability testing is addressed for both methods, and examples of successful applications are provided. The distinction between theoretical and practical performance as essential conceptual achievement is explained in two separate chapters. Most recent theoretical models of game sports are presented, including the dynamical systems perspective, stochastic modelling, and contingency or chance as part of the game. The practical chapter introduces the concept of comprehensive performance analysis as appropriate background. It deals with qualitative methods used for assessing player and team performances, strategy development, and methods and principles of video tactic training for successful transfer of the results of analyses.
