Business Information Systems: Design an App for That
by Raymond D. Frost Jacqueline C. Pike Lauren N. Kenyo Sarah E. PelsStudents in introductory Management Information Systems (MIS) courses often ask what a career in MIS looks like. Lacking a clear vision, they make their own assumptions. Often they assume the career involves programming with little human interaction. That MIS is a technical field could not be further from the truth. MIS job descriptions typically require candidates to be able to collaborate, communicate, analyze needs and gather requirements. They also list the need for excellent written and communication skills. In other words, MIS workers are constantly interacting with other people both inside and outside the organization. They are coming up with creative solutions to business problems. Business Information Systems by Frost, Pike, Kenyo and Pels is designed to help students get a feel for what a career in MIS would be like. The authors' students report that they learn more about information systems from their internships than from their IS courses. Consequently, they designed a book that looks very much like an internship--an introduction to the field followed by a substantial project. The authors begin Unit 1 by introducing the information systems landscape. The unit kicks off with a discussion of all the usual suspects: the information systems triangle, the systems development life cycle, transaction systems (ERP, SCM, CRM), collaboration systems, and business intelligence systems. Other aspects of the landscape such as usability, outsourcing, database concepts and so forth are introduced throughout a chapter in unit 2 where they fit in naturally with the flow of the project. Unit 2 is the substantial project which runs over a number of chapters. Students will plan, build, and develop a proposal for an iPhone application. They will develop a very realistic mockup. They also build a website to help market and support the app. Students are engaged because the project is fun and feels real. However, they are simultaneously learning business concepts and MIS skills. With Designing Information Systems, even as freshmen, you can give your students an experience that emulates MIS in operation. Business Information Systems: Design an App for That by Frost, Pike, Kenyo and Pels is a text that will help students learn Information Systems by doing Management Information Systems. Business Law
by Jane Mallor Arlen Langvardt Martin McCrory A. Barnes Jamie PrenkertMallor, Barnes, Bowers and Langvardt’s, Business Law: The Ethical, Global, and E-Commerce Environment, 12th Edition, is appropriate for the two-term business law course. The cases in the 12th edition are excerpted and edited by the authors. The syntax is not altered, therefore retaining the language of the courts. As in the 11th edition, the 12th edition includes a mix of actual AND hypothetical cases. The title has been changed to reflect a new focus of the book – the global and Internet environment. Business Law: The Ethical, Global, and E-Commerce Environment, 12e includes new pedagogy such as opening vignettes and new-boxed features such as “Ethics in Action” and “Cyberlaw in Action.” This combined with case briefs and concept reviews, along with some reorganization of the text results in a more complete, relevant and user-friendly text.

Business Law
by James F. MorganWe are excited to bring you the sixth edition of this book. The previous edition was used in business law and legal environment of business courses throughout the nation. The changes made in the sixth edition are geared to better meet the needs of instructors and students. <p><p> Four changes deserve specific mention: Latest Legislative and Administrative Developments: As you might expect, over the past few years, the law in the United States and within the international community has evolved, and exciting dimensions of the business/law dynamic have developed. This edition also captures the latest developments in legislative (e.g., the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016) and administrative fronts. Current Cases: The sixth edition includes recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions (several from 2017) as principal cases, along with new cases from other federal courts and various state courts. More Graphical Presentations: A host of new tables, exhibits, and other visual depictions of important concepts are included in this new edition. Reorganization of Uniform Commercial Code Materials: Recognizing that many law courses - particularly those aimed at accounting students - focus on the Uniform Commercial Code, the sixth edition presents Uniform Commercial Code (and related) chapters together. <p><p> We believe we have improved readability of this edition through a vigorous process of editing, in both content and grammar realms. The sixth edition continues our tradition of offering an expansive text that presents, in an interesting manner, the fascinating and ever-changing world of law within the business community. Welcome to the sixth edition!

Business Law (Sixth Edition)
by Robert W. EmersonTitles in Barron's Business Review series are widely used as classroom supplements to college textbooks and often serve as a main textbook in business brush-up programs. Business Law focuses on the importance of legal theory in the everyday business world, explaining such subjects as tort responsibility, government regulations, contracts, environmental law, product liability, consumer protection, and international law, among many other topics. Also discussed in detail are the legal aspects of partnerships, franchises, and corporations, as well as special topics that include business crimes, property as a legal concept, intellectual property, and similar pertinent topics. A study aid labeled Key Terms appears at the beginning of each chapter, and You Should Remember summaries are strategically interspersed throughout the text.
Business Law 5th edition
by James F. MorganThe forty-six chapters in Business Law, fifth edition are divided into ten distinctive parts. These parts permit the reader to view chapters within a broader context as represented by the term chosen to describe the part. That is, this structure allows students to have a logical skeleton with which to see the "big picture" of business law, consisting of the major parts of the discipline along with specific chapters presented in each part of the text.
