The rest of the story is his journey where he stands by his ex-girlfriend after her death to find justice. The book also addresses the stereotypes and political issues we face in India. The novel opens up with a conversation of the author of the book, Chetan Bhagat with a fellow passenger on a midnight IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Delhi. After an initial conversation, Chetan agrees to listen to the story of the fellow passenger. Soon after, the fellow passenger starts narrating his story to the author.
Choondal P Padmarajan - Malayalam: ചൂണ്ടല്‍ പി പത്മരാജന്‍

The beautiful imagery in the narration gives a feel of sharing the real moments with the old man, who set out for fishing with his choonda (fishing rod) while his only unmarried daughter (the only family) curses him, till he returns in the evening with a varal (a big fish). The curse and the thoughts generating from it is amazingly penned by Malayalam’s ever-loved story teller P Padmarajan.
