The 7 Worst Things Good Parents Do
by John Friel Linda D. FrielPsychologists John and Linda Friel have written an enormously readable and infinitely practical book that digs into some of the worst mistakes that parents make, with suggestions on how parents can change immediately. The Friels examine the seven most ineffective and self-defeating behaviors that parents display again and again. Working from the ideas that even small changes can have big results, the authors give parents concrete steps they can take to end the behaviors and improve the quality of their parenting. Whether readers are contemplating starting a family, have children who haven’t entered school yet, are struggling with rebellious teenagers, or are empty-nesters wondering how they can be better parents to their grown children, they can’t afford not to read this book. With the same clarity and concrete examples that have sold over 350,000 copies of their books, the Friels offer readers forty years of combined experience as practicing psychologists, and fifty years of combined experience as blended-family parents. This material has been field-tested in the authors’ own household, with hundreds of their clients, and with thousands of their workshop and Clearlife Clinic participants. It will cause immediate changes in parents’ behavior, and immediate improvement in the lives of their children.

70 Hebrew Words Every Christian Should Know
by Matthew Richard SchlimmThe basic message of the Bible can be understood in any language. At the same time, many biblical texts are hard to understand because they don’t quite make sense when translated into English. Something is missing. Quite frequently, what readers miss has been lost in translation. Maybe there is a pun or wordplay in the original. Sometimes names like Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel, and Eden just seem like names to us but have meanings that are essential to the story. Many Hebrew words have multiple meanings, but the English translators have to just pick one (for example, the same Hebrew word can mean both hear and obey). Even more common are Hebrew words that have much wider meanings than their English translations. A few examples are the Hebrew words rendered as remember, covenant, walk, gates, love, cleanliness, holiness, glory, wisdom, and fear. The original language allows various parts to click together like well-constructed puzzle pieces. With Hebrew in mind, interpreters see new details they didn’t realize were missing before. They make new connections. They immerse themselves in scripture more fully. That’s where this book comes in. Learning a language is like learning a worldview. Those who learn Biblical Hebrew can better understand not only what biblical authors wrote, but also how they thought. Unfortunately, those insights come only after years of study. This book is about getting right to the important, exciting insights. It’s an opportunity to be transformed by the renewing of our minds as we better understand how biblical authors used their language to express their experience of God and the world. If you are just beginning to study Hebrew and want the insights and motivation to continue or if you have no intention of learning biblical Hebrew but want to better understand the Bible, this book is for you!
70 NOT OUT! Celebrating Fkir Hassen
by SHUMARLAN NAIDOO with FAKIR HASSENABOUT THIS BOOK When my Dad Sammy Naidoo suggested the idea of this book to mark the advent of our dear friend Fakir Hassen's 70th year, it sparked off memories about Fakir and I working together to prepare a somewhat rushed book for my Dad's own 70th last year. That was my first effort at putting together a book of this nature, so the challenge of repeating the exercise on a much larger scale was initially a little daunting, especially given the way in which Fakir is so highly respected in the community. But with Fakir's assistance, the project turned out to be a unique book that I have no doubt will be appreciated not just by his own family and friends, but even by those who will find it in libraries for generations to come long after we are all gone. It will no doubt serve as an inspiration to emulate a life well-lived in service of humanity by a person with humble beginnings who has retained that humility for so many decades to gain so many friends, who share this in their messages. My family and I are proud to have had a long relationship with Fakir, both personally, and professionally through the Apple Group of Print Companies. The innovative ideas he has come up with, not just for the 26 books that we have done together, but many other projects in the interest of the community at large as well, are reflected by many contributors in this book. The numerous awards and accolades that Fakir has received, many of them alongside my Dad, as can be seen in the book, will always remain for me a firm memory of my two greatest mentors. I am thrilled to have had the opportunity of contributing to the legacy of a man that so many admire and see as a role model, in particular young people who are now in prominent positions of public influence. -Shumarlan Naidoo

70 Tips and Tricks for Mastering the CISSP Exam
by R. Sarma DanturthiLearn how to think and apply knowledge in a practical way. Tackling the CISSP exam is vastly different from simply understanding the subject matter. Even the most experienced security professionals can fail because the questions are tricky and ask the test taker to pick the best of the options given. The CISSP exam conducted by ISC2 is the hardest and most rewarded cybersecurity examination. The test has several domains and sub-domains and covers a wide range of topics on security, including cyber and physical building security fields. It also covers breaches, discovery of breaches, and how to report data breaches. Because the subject area is vast and the questions are almost never repeated, it is hard for the exam taker to memorize or quickly discover the correct solution. The four options given as answers typically have two very close matches to the question. With quick analysis, it is possible to discover from the verbiage of a question what is truly being asked and learn how to find the closest possible solution without spending too much time on each question. What You Will Learn Think outside the box (the CISSP exam demands this of candidates)Quickly discern the gist of a question, eliminate the distractors, and select the correct answerUnderstand the use of words such as MOST, BEST, FIRST, LAST in the questionsSelect the correct answer when multiple options look like possible solutions Who This Book Is For Experienced security practitioners, managers, and executives interested in proving their knowledge across a wide array of security practices and principles, including chief information security officers, chief information officers, directors of security, IT directors and managers, security systems engineers, security analysts, security managers, security auditors, security architects, security consultants, private contractors, and network architects

$700 Billion Bailout
by Paul MuoloThe book is an analysis of the controversial Emergency Economic Stabilization Act and explains in easy to understand language what the bailout bill means for individuals. $700 Billion Bailout answers questions such as: What does the bill say, exactly? Who is making decisions about how the $700 billion will be spent, and what does it mean now that the government is investing directly in our banks? Who's footing the bill? What is the impact on homeowners, businesses, retirement, and taxes? Where do I put my money in the meantime? Veteran reporter Paul Muolo shows both the challenges and opportunities of the credit crisis and proposed bailout, including its impact on: Mortgages: While rates may be lower, there will be more fees imposed on mortgages. Lenders will be far more cautious in lending, and people who cannot meet their mortgages are likely to lose these homes. This may create a "contrarian" plays in foreclosures and vacation homes. . Stocks and Other Investments: Is now the time to get into the stock market or is it safer to stick with CDs, bonds, and gold? Taxes: With the tax breaks, there will be less tax revenue leading to a huge shortfall to the government over the next few years. He will offer insight into these areas and many others, including how the structure of the bailout bill allows for unprecedented authority that has altered the financial landscape, perhaps permanently. Will the plan work, and how we can prevent this from happening again remains to be seen, but with $700 Billion Bailout Paul Muolo gives us a critical tool for deciphering perhaps the most sweeping piece of legislation since the Patriot Act.

700 Sundays
by Billy CrystalActor and comedian Billy Crystal has forged a highly successful career by portraying other people in movies like When Harry Met Sally...and City Slickers. But in 700 Sundays, a memoir based on his one-man Broadway play of the same name, Crystal tells his own story, dissecting an often complex relationship with his father and how that relationship resonated in other aspects of his life. His father, Jack Crystal was an influential jazz concert promoter and operated an influential jazz record label, affording his son an opportunity to tell stories of being taken to his first movie by Billie Holliday and seeing his grandmother suggest that Louis Armstrong simply "try coughing it up." But Jack died when his son was fifteen years old, soon after a forever-unresolved argument between the two, leaving Billy to cope with crushing grief while simultaneously and perhaps ironically trying to launch a career in comedy. This lends 700 Sundays much needed gravity in a volume that is packed with zingy one-liners and whimsical observations that serve to illustrate the comedy career Crystal forged, while also providing some decent laughs. Interestingly, there is very little reference to the better known accomplishments of Crystal's Hollywood career as the author chooses to focus instead on the seemingly mundane but highly entertaining aspects of his Long Island roots. Though 700 Sundays (the name comes from Crystal's estimation of how many Sundays he got to spend with his father) is packaged here in book form, it reads like a piece of theater and, more specifically, like a selection of memories about a father, lovingly and touchingly re-told by his loving son. --John Moe
