How do I read Bookshare books with Dolphin Easy Reader?

Bookshare books can be read directly in the Dolphin EasyReader app on Chromebooks, Windows PCs and mobile devices. Easy Reader has both a free and paid premium version. To use Easy Reader, you must first download the Easy Reader app to your device.

Once you have the Easy Reader app on your device:

  1. Open the Easy Reader app. You will be prompted to create a Dolphin Easy Reader account username and password.
  2. Log into your Dolphin account.
  3. Select the top left side-menu button to open the menu tray to select Bookshare.
  4. Under the Manage Libraries section, select Bookshare. If Bookshare does not automatically appear, select Manage Libraries to enable it.
  5. Log in using your Bookshare credentials.
  6. Students on school accounts will see links for their assigned books and reading lists.
  7. Individual members can use the search field on this page to and type the title or author of the book you want to read and select search.
  8. Select the book you want to read from the search results.
  9. Select the download button to add the book to your device.
  10. When the download is complete you will be promoted with an open button to read the book.

The book will now appear in your Dolphin library.

To add voices to the Dolphin Easy Reader app:

EasyReader app users with a premium account subscription have free access to all of the Nuance voices inside the Audio settings dialog and can download and install them at will.

After adding voices, while your book is open:

  1. Select Audio Settings.
  2. Tap on the name of your current voice, which will take you into the list of your currently available voices.
  3. Tap on the voice you wish to switch to, then tap the back button until you are back in the book, then tap Play to verify the voice was successfully changed.
